We’re thrilled to announce that Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto has been officially appointed as the chief rabbinical judge for the Jewish community living in Morocco! This is a truly historic moment, and we wanted to bring you the news straight from our hearts here at Shuva Israel.
Representatives from the Moroccan government, leaders from the Jewish community, and even members of the police and military gathered together at the Beth-El Synagogue in Casablanca for this special swearing-in ceremony. It’s a powerful image of unity and interfaith cooperation.
As you know, we deeply value the rich tapestry of our Jewish heritage, and it’s incredible to see Morocco become the first Muslim country in the modern world to formally recognize a Jewish rabbinic authority. This is not just a significant event for the Jewish community in Morocco, but for all of us who believe in the power of connection and understanding.
a special envoy representing the Moroccan royal family, shared some touching words at the event. He expressed gratitude for Rabbi Pinto and relayed a beautiful message from King Mohammed VI about the love and adoration that binds all the children of Abraham. What a reminder of the unity we all share!

And, of course, Rabbi Pinto himself expressed his deep appreciation for King Mohammed VI, his family, and the Moroccan Jewish community. He is a great-grandson of the beloved Moroccan-born Rabbi Baba Sali, and we know he will continue this legacy of spiritual leadership.
This appointment is a reminder that Hashem works in powerful ways to bring about reconciliation and understanding. We believe that Rabbi Pinto will bring a new era of spiritual guidance and growth to the Jewish people living in Morocco, and we are honored to share this news with you all.
We encourage you to join us in praying for Rabbi Pinto and the Jewish community of Morocco as they embark on this new journey. We see it as a testament to Hashem’s hand in all things and hope that it brings more dialogue, healing and unity.
Stay tuned for more updates and ways to join us in celebrating this important event!
Shalom from all of us at Shuva Israel!
